pretty

Gardening makes me happy. The bad thing is that because I live in a condo, my gardening space is fairly limited.  But that doesn't stop me from adding some color. It's all about the pretty flowers.

And because the weather was so beautiful out I finished planting the flowers on my balcony today.

Every year I stick with the petunias and vinca vines. This year I threw a spike in there for some height.

Eventually they will get split up. I'll probably put the white container on the little table I have. I LOVE the little blue flowers. I have no idea what they are but I had to have them. Same with the red gerber daisies. I'm the worst. I just get distracted by the pretty and buy them with no real plan.

This might be my favorite. Pink gerber daisies and little blue flowers. (We'll see how long it lasts before I find a way to kill it.)

I also made yet another run to the nursery for flowers for the condo building. I did the planters today before I ran out of potting soil yet again. I'll have to make yet another trip to the nursery tomorrow so I can finish planting this stuff before it all dies.

I love long relaxing holiday weekends.

Daisies are the happiest, aren't they? Just something about that. I especially love gerber daisies with all the pretty colors. Oh, spring.

They are the happiest. I always think of Kathleen from "You've Got Mail" when I think of Daisies.

The daisies were so cute, I had to buy them.

Sadly, I went back for a couple more and they were completely gone. :(

Vinca vines are made of win - and totally indestructable. I once had one live - and continue to grow - ALL WINTER LONG. It was insane.

You're planters are very pretty - I like the reds and oranges in particular. Now we can both sit outside and pretend we are going back to nature. *g*

Vinca vines are the work horse of plants. Horrid days of rain... they survive. Weather in the 100s+ with little water... they survive. They are the only flowers that I never have to replace. And bonus: they look fabulous with Mums.

I was drawn to red and orange this year. Last year it was pink and purple. But the selections have little to do with what type of plant and everything to do with "pretty". It's like the equivalent of ::shiny things::

Very pretty! Is the blue some kind of aster, perhaps? I was trying to get taz to identify it (having worked at a plant nursery for a while, and would be thrilled if he never saw a vinca plant again), but he came up short.

That seems like it would be a fun job. For a while.

The blue one's were apparently called Beth's Blue... whatever the heck that is. Honestly, some of the names on these things are crazy. One of the reds is Tequila Sunrise.

So pretty Gatzy!. The pink gerbers and the little blue flowers are my favourite too. We don't have anything on our balcony - it's a shared entrance for the entire floor and so we can't block it - but I might look for something besides the my rubber plant for inside. Because flowers are so pretty :-)

I need a flower icon...

I'm lucky. I have a little space on my balcony and I do the pots (urns) by the entrance of our building. There's also a tiny patch by the bushes outside where I plant a bunch of petunas because they tend to hold up pretty well there.

Just enough gardening for me to not hate it when it gets really hot out and they require multiple waterings a day to survive.

Thank you. I much rather do this limited gardening than mow the lawn. Yuck.

AWESOME flowers! I wish it would stop raining so I can go plant things in my garden.

(I spent much money at the nursery yesterday. All my criteria for buying was "ooooooohpretty!"

I too am acquainted with the ""ooooooohpretty!" technique. (It's how I ended up with an odd mix this year.)

I have been to 1 nursery 4x and the other 2x in the past 8 days between doing my balcony and the building's flowers. I forgot stuff, ran out of stuff and went looking for more stuff. I'm hoping I don't have to go back for a while.
