This is really heating up on the interwebs today. It made a couple of us laugh in the office.

That's great! Of course, I love "West Side Story," so I was pre-sold.

My absolute favorite (no surprise) is the ENTIRE SONG DISSING EHARMONY.
Yeah, I've heard enough horror stories to be filled with contempt when their ads come on now.

Thanks, Gatzy!

Heh. One of my friends is on there--he sent an email he'd gotten with some of eHarmony's general 'recommendations' for guys--and he wanted advice as to whether this stuff was really 'true', and if he ought to be trying to adhere to it.

Aside from being slightly horrified by it in general, what really got me was reading between the lines. One of the points was 'be honest'...and it mentioned that most of the eHarmony women have been lied to in the past by a significant other.

Yippee.

Frankly, I think that says more about the women than about the guys. These women don't have any idea how to go about picking anything other than losers, and they're a touch bitter about it. Somehow, I don't think eHarmony is quite going to help them develop those skills. :-P

Hey Flips! I haven't heard anything quite like that. ;-)

One friend sent me an e-mail and a photo saying, basically, "This is who eHarmony thinks is compatible with me." Not only can my friend do way, way better than this guy, the fact that eHarmony thought this guy was even remotely compatible to her called their whole operation into question for me. :-)

Heh. One of the last points in the list had to do with 'putting your best foot forward'. It said something like, women instinctively know this--they prep for the picture, use makeup, find a nice background. Guys snap a webcam pic with uncombed hair and
a bewildered expression.

That's the short of it. But I LOLed. :-)

I think it really is, generally, a guy thing. Like, they don't see the 'larger' need for a picture...it's more like, it was on the checklist of things to send in, so...'snap', here you go, done. :-)

Well, my friend's brother met his now wife on eHarmony so they can't be completely bad...

That being said... I'm not a fan based on their discrimination against gays.
