my kind of town

I love my city and I love history. So it makes perfect sense that I would love this 1948 Chicago the Beautiful Traveltalk.

It's fun to see how much has changed.

What a great find, Gatzy! I love color images from otherwise black-and-white times, so to speak.

The boat tour footage reminds me of our boat tour, even given how much has changed. It's also interesting recognizing the view at various points along Lake Shore Drive.

Does the Stevens Hotel still exist in some form? (I'm presuming if it does, it doesn't have that name.)

I love it because the area around my office looks empty. Same with the area near Millennium Park. The skyscrapers (New name for Stone Container, Aon, Prudential, etc) aren't up yet.

I'm pretty sure the Stevens is the Chicago Hilton and Towers.

Yes; looking at the clip again, I think it is now the Hilton. The Curls and I both had rooms there when Ana was last in Chicago.
