on the business of snow removal

In Washington, D.C.  it was "snowpocalypse"; in Chicago, it's called Tuesday.

Snow removal requires sophistication.

"I'd take my plow drivers and put them up against anyone in North America," said Bobby Richardson, Chicago's snow removal boss. "Ten inches, a foot of snow? That's nothing for us. Nothing."

(I really hope I am not tempting fate by posting this. I really don't want any more sizable snowfall for the season. An inch, no big deal.)

DC has gotten more snowfall this year than any other year in recorded history. Last year? Maybe a foot, total. If that. We're not strangers to snow, but the city just can't handle 60 inches in two months. I'd love to have your guys, those snow removal gurus, cause right now it's like off-roading just to get out of my neighborhood, I bump and jostle along several inches of refrozen ice and packed snow like I'm in a frickin covered wagon! Its insanity, but all we can do is wait for it to melt!
